Tosh Farms is a family-owned crop and swine production business with over 500 employees. While we are family-owned, we are not a small outfit - we have 3 companies operating under the Tosh Farms name - Tosh Farms (row crops), Tosh Pork (swine production, construction/maintenance, and feed milling), and Bacon by Gosh (transportation and logistics). While we embrace our family-owned roots, our operation is anything but small. We are the largest pork producer in the state of Tennessee and one of the top 30 largest pork producers in the United States.

Position Overview

Tosh Farms is looking for exceptional leaders to direct the operations at sow farms located in Western Kentucky. The sow farm manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of production including teaching and developing current staff, maintaining excellent culture, ensuring farm efficiency, producing high quality pigs, and ensuring excellent animal care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and develop farm staff to build a high-performing and motivated team
  • Oversee breeding, farrowing, and overall herd health to ensure high quality pig production
  • Maintain a strong farm culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Enhancing biosecurity and animal well-being
  • Championing a culture with safety as a priority and ensuring a safe working environment
  • Monitor farm performance metrics and implement strategies for operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with farm team, other farm managers, and company leadership to drive success
  • Personnel performance management including positive reinforcement and corrective action
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of farm facilities
  • Build a strong, cohesive team through effective communication, goal setting, and coaching of supervisors on the farm
  • Be the primary conduit of company information to the farm team to maintain compliance with all applicable business regulations
  • Build strong relationships with senior leadership through effective communication and collaboration to support company goals
  • Perform other necessary duties as assigned

What You Will Need To Succeed In This Role

  • At least 6 years of experience in management, preferably on sow farms, 3 of which are department level lead or higher. Experience leading groups of at least 10 people is ideal
  • BS in Animal Science preferred but not required
  • Demonstrable analytical aptitude, decision-making, problem-solving, organization, and planning capabilities with independent decision-making ability
  • Ability to drive change as well as lead, mentor, and train others
  • Ability to connect with people throughout all levels of the organization
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proficient in basic computing skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Collaborative mindset and self-motivated
  • High-level organizational skills with attention to detail, allowing you to manage a large team and multiple priorities
  • Valid Driver's license with clean driving record
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred

Physical Requirements Of This Role

  • Ability to stand/kneel/bend/stoop/walk for extended periods of time (8-10 hours a day)
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions
  • Ability to withstand working in the elements
  • Operate a company vehicle and maintain an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to perform clerical work in an office setting
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work in sow farms around livestock and in dusty environments
