Purpose & Scope:

JBS Live Pork, LLC has an opportunity available for a Field Manager for the Lamar/Las Animas area of S.E. CO. This position will work directly with farm managers, assistants, team leads, operations team and cross teams to effectively and efficiently improve sow production. You will also help manage and provide documentation of on-farm reports, projections, process improvement, and animal welfare audits among other reports. You will work with the Production Manager and veterinarian to arrive at solutions and make decisions that will impact your area and your business unit profitability. This field manager will be responsible for productivity and cost of production for approximately 18,500 sows on farm.

 

Principle Accountabilities-

70%-

Servicing farmsCoaching and training, making sure SOP’s are followed and helping farms make action plans on areas for opportunity. Making sure farms are always audit-ready.

 

30% –

Administrated dutiesreviewing production numbers for areas of opportunities and inventory control, doing long term projections, facility upkeep and maintenance needs, budgeting and financial reviews to maintain low cost, helping with employee issues, overall biosecurity, safety meetings, flashcard meeting.

 

Principle Responsibilities-

  • High impact farm visits, monitoring SOP compliance and helping develop action plans
  • Coaching, training and developing farm managers and employees
  • Animal welfare and environmental compliances
  • Biosecurity compliance and action planning
  • Financial reviews and cost control
  • Working with safety coordinator to maintain safe working environment and practices
  • Work with maintenance team and managers on facility upkeep and long-term planning needs
  • Work with HR team and managers on maintaining low turnover and high impact trainings.

 

Principle Responsibilities:

 

  • Sow health management
  • Coaching, training, and developing new farm managers
  • Animal Welfare and Environmental Compliance by offering solutions
  • Medication/vet ordering
  • Bio-Security compliance and action planning
  • Assists in controlling costs associated with feed, supplies, and labor
  • Sets long and short-term targets and goals for breeding and farrowing success
  • Maintains accurate number integrity for record keeping
  • Coordinates and oversees completion of special projects
  • Make recommendations for operational improvements

 

Required:

  • BS/BA degree in related field or 5 years’ equivalent experience in pork production
  • Comprehensive computer knowledge in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Occasional overnight travel – 15%
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams
  • Experience in complete Sow Production cycle- 5+ years
  • Ability to motivate and inspire people to achieve high goals
  • Must possess problem solving techniques
  • Demonstrates knowledge of overall business strategy and operations
  • Demonstrates written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Must possess valid driver’s license
  • Ability to bend, push, pull, twist, and lift approximately 60+lbs
  • Constant/continuous standing and walking
  • Must maintain level PQA Plus & TQA certification
  • Must have complete and thorough knowledge of all biosecurity regulations.
  • Must be available to help with yearly budgets.
  • Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed – on call

Bi-lingual English/Spanish – Strongly Preferred
