Tyson Foods Inc, the world’s largest protein producer and the second-largest food production company in the Fortune 500, is looking for a Veterinarian to join our Pork Group Technical Services team. The Pork Group Veterinarian I is primarily responsible for direct interaction with contract producers, and management company leadership in our Indiana/Ohio grow-finish operation. Daily tasks will include: oversight of all farm herd health needs; maintenance of proper swine herd health and movement verification paperwork; preservation of all veterinary client/patient relationships and veterinary feed directives; and oversight of secure pork supply plans.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with farm management, operations, and technical services teams to assess health issues and formulate solutions to address those issues.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and lead appropriate teams to improve on farm production management practices, biosecurity, and animal health.
  • Conduct animal welfare, health and biosecurity assessments and assist in training farm personnel on proper animal husbandry practices.

Requirements

  • Education: DVM required upon initiation of employment with ability to get licensed in applicable states within 60 days.
  • Computer Skills: Standard computer skills. May require use of the Tyson Business Computer System.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Travel: 6 to 12 domestic trips per year.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes
  • Relocation Assistance Eligible: Yes
