Job Description
The main objective of this position is to audit and maintain accurate information of sow farm production activities. This will require entering and uploading production data of the activity inside the sow farms. This position will work with the Data Technician to provide timely and accurate feedback to the Farm Managers and employees regarding sow records. The Sow Data Support Tech must possess excellent communication skills and be in constant communication with Farm Managers and other team members on a routine basis in order to gain and maintain a thorough understanding of the farrowing, weaning, and breeding activities occurring inside EFI sow farms.

- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Able to prioritize functions and manage time effectively
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle language barriers a plus.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record
- Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently. Bilingual skills a plus.
- Basic math skills
- Good computer skills- experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience in sow record keeping software a plus.
- Must function as a team player.
Physical Job Requirements
- May require occasional light lifting
Work Environment
- Combination of office and farm work environment. (60-70% farm)
- Expect frequent visits to sow farms (Iowa and Missouri) to assist with data records
- Possible interaction with live animals (large and small)
- Cubicle workspace provided for office work
Main Responsibilities
- Go onsite to various farms to audit, verify and enter daily breeds, farrows, wean activity, and sow removals utilizing the sow farm production software. This will require the entry of information from sow cards maintained in the barns.
- Provide backup for on farm staff for production records, as needed.
- Work with Data Technician to complete sow farm data audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of the data entered.
- Work on farm with farm managers and production staff on the proper classification of various events occurring on farm.
- Work with Data Technician to assist in troubleshooting data entry problems in order to determine appropriate solutions.
- Responsible for entering all maternal wean pig litter tags in PICTraq.
- Printing sow cards, Running and designing various other weekly reports, and reports needed by management.
- May require travel from time to time to production facilities outside the local area.
- All other tasks and duties as requested.
Other Responsibilities
- Consistent and regular attendance
- Requires travel to all EFI sow farms (lowa and Missouri)
- Compliance with biosecurity procedures including:
- Understanding and following the Health Status Pyramid.
- Shower in and out procedures,
- All other protocols
- Must follow safety protocols while performing all tasks.
- Must understand and comply with animal welfare policies.
- Reports to Data Technician
