What You Will Do: 

As the Sales & Product Development Engineer, you will work directly with the Inside & Outside Sales Teams (domestic and/or international) to prepare quotes and work as project lead on larger projects, including pricing and necessary drawings. You will also manage the product development process for new & existing product lines from conception through launch. You will track the quotes and partner with Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering to deliver a successful quote and subsequent project. 

What You Will Accomplish:

  • Calculate pricing per customer request and deliver an accurate and timely written quotes and drawings.
  • Manages product development for new and existing products from conception through launch – ensuring stage gate validation and timelines are met.
  • Collaborates, educates, and assists the Sales Development group regarding equipment/product recommendations including layouts, product quotes, project proposals, and product analysis to assist in the sales process.
  • Submit quotes and drawings to Dealers for approval – tracking and reporting throughout the process to ensure quick turnaround and successful metrics. 
  • Utilize Auto-CAD to prepare equipment layouts.
  • Track and monitor orders to ensure accurate parts lists are entered.
  • Act as Project Manager on large projects as determined by the Engineering Manager.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Associate Degree in technical, mechanical, or related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Will consider combination of coursework and relevant industry experience 
  • Experience: 0-3 years of relevant experience; New/Recent Graduates encouraged to apply
  • Certification(s): n/a
  • Functional Skills: Previous knowledge of or ability to learn the functionality of equipment/layout for pig farms; proven ability to solve problems practically and comfortable working with a variety of variables; Strong technical/mechanical aptitude; Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented; understanding of plastics, metals, circuitry, and related networking preferred
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Proficient w/ MS Office with exceptional understanding of Excel (formulas, macros, etc.); Experience with AutoCAD/Design software
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Comfortable presenting to groups of people
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Comfortable working independently and managing multiple variables; Demonstrates a high customer service mentality; Supportive, motivated, and driven; Collaborative and resourceful; Upbeat, energetic, and positive with a strong sense of urgency
  • Culture Match Behaviors: Collaborative team-player with the ability to interact with other personnel and various cultures. 

Other Important Information:     

Salary:  Salary is commensurate with proven experience

Reports To:  Technical Service/Engineering Manager

Core Hours:  8:00 am – 5:30 pm; typical day is 8-9 hours  

Typical Work Week:  M-F; some Saturdays and travel required for urgent matters; 42-45 hours a week on average

Direct Reports:   None 

Work Conditions: Primarily an office environment with visits to manufacturing areas and dealers

Travel: 10% or less with potential for international travel
