Do you have a passion for animal agriculture and thrive in a team environment?  If so, consider joining our team at Huntingfield Farms!  We are a farrow to wean facility located in Huron County and we currently have an opening for an individual with swine experience to fill a full-time production position at our 2400 sow unit.  This position is farm based.

 

Working in a team environment, specific duties will include:

  • Primarily working on the farrowing team, the individual will participate in the daily operation of the sow herd including animal care, feeding, breeding, farrowing, health checks, scheduling, record keeping, cleaning, etc.
  • Ensure that the herd produces the targeted number of high-quality pigs, on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure a continued focus on animal welfare and workplace safety is maintained.
  • Work to improve production efficiency and piglet quality.
  • Participate in managing the physical aspects of the facility, completing minor repairs, maintenance and making recommendations on major repairs and upgrades where necessary.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A solid background with a proven track-record in livestock production is considered an asset.
  • Some leadership experience and experience working with people from different cultures is considered an asset.
  • Ability to problem solve issues related to biological systems and mechanical systems used in livestock production settings.
  • Some formal post-secondary education, preferably in agriculture.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A positive attitude, team-centered approach and a desire to succeed.
