JBS Live Pork is looking for a Director of Transportation. This person will manage all aspects of the scheduling and logistics of market hog and feeder pig movements for all of the JBS Live Pork regions. This position will be an integral part of driving system development and daily operations efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
(Order of essential functions does not indicate importance of function)
· Manage a team of transport managers (4-5) and assure consistent processes and efficient logistics.
· Develop, maintain, and communicate movement schedules to all relevant stakeholders, including field staff, contract haulers, and plant personnel.
· Collaborate with all parties to ensure product-specific requirements are met throughout each phase of delivery.
· Monitor key performance metrics on an ongoing basis and implement actions to drive continuous improvement.
· Address issues related to animal handling and transport in coordination with animal welfare teams, field staff, producers, truckers, and plants.
· Partner with the Grow-Finish Team, Pig Flow Specialists, and Regional Director to develop strategies aimed at minimizing freight costs and enhancing operational efficiency.
· Create, implement, and audit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies related to biosecurity, truck washing, trailer and driver requirements, and site management as they pertain to swine delivery and shipment.
· Ensure compliance with PQA (Pork Quality Assurance) and TQA (Transport Quality Assurance) guidelines, striving to meet or exceed standards.
· Manage all contract hauler relationships, including contract oversight, regulatory compliance, and safety performance.
· Maintain a comprehensive understanding of pig flow at all levels of the system, including weaned pig and feeder pig/overstock movements.

Required Qualifications:
· Demonstrate ability to lead a team.
· Extensive knowledge of logistics or commercial swine production
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and related software
· Be on call at all times (excluding vacation)
· Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a positive manner
· Must be self-driven, and self-motivated, and comfortable with limited daily direction
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, logistics or related field.
· 2+ years’ experience related to this position
· Previous experience in managing a team of employee’s.
Travel:
· 25%-50% travel expected - Travel includes Iowa, NE Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana
· This role should be engaged with Haulers, Plants, Direct Reports, and the Live Pork production team with face-to-face regularity to promote strong relationships.
Working Conditions:
General climate-controlled office environment
Temperature at work sites will vary depending upon season and location
Exposure to various elements inherent with agriculture production
The noise level in the work environment is general moderate.
